Hi Friends,
I hope all of you are doing well during this stressful period.
As we know the second wave of covid 19 is currently going on around the World.
I would like to know if any transplant patients have contacted the virus and how are they currently doing ? Do we have any information about this
Furthemore what extra measures can we take in protecting ourselves against the virus as it appears the new strain of this virus is extremely transmissible.
Thanks

Hello,
I do not know of any patients personally but did read an article (I can't remember where) where it indicated that some transplant recepients had contracted the virus. In the article mentioned that some survived and some did not as it is expected depending on each individual case and comorbidities.
As far as precautions goes, I am protecting myself more than many I see around and keeping isolated at home going out exclusively to pick up or receive groceries ordered on-line and to the drug store (drive-thru only) to pick up any last minute or new medication. All other medications I moved to mail-order when the pandemic began. I have also gone out for my routine lab work taking multiple precautions while there like insisting on the first appoitment before crowds arrive and wearing an N95 mask and a surgical one on top of it plus a face shield and gloves.
We are all different and our opinions differ based on each individual level of comfort. I have not been out of the house for anything at all other than those instances mentioned above for the last 10 months. It is my choice based on recommendations and what I see happening and what work for me and my sanity during these times.
Please, stay safe.
