Hi friends,

I need your suggestion. Its 11 months since my transplant. Creatinine level remains 2.2 - 2.6. Since my transplant the renal artery index (RI) was 0.4-0.5, last time it was 0.4 only. Did anybody face this complication? After few days from transplant doc found a cyst like object in Tx kidney and now it measures 6cm by 6cm.

Doctors want a CT scan (non contrast) to decide to operate and remove the cyst. I have mild pain in that area but not all the time. I am worried if it could help lower my cr level. Also I have high BP, swelling in leg, less energy and back pain. In spite of all the complications I feel blessed not to go for dialysis.

  • The docs have to make sure it's not a complex cyst which has a dense component. They found one in my native kidney and they're often malignant. I had to have my native kidney removed. The bopsy show that the cyst was malignant. Did your docs mention that it might be a complex cyst?
    • Thank you Steinman. In fact this cyst was under monitoring since last six months. On CT scan it shows a 7cm cortical cyst. My Urologist has a plan to remove it but transplant doctors want to monitor further. They called me again for making a decision if this will be worth or not. Lets see

  • Thrilled you are not on dialysis anymore. I did have a transplant kidney for 20 years and it did develop a cyst at 4cm. They kept an eye on it and it never got bigger so they left it alone. Wishing you the best
