Delayed graft function

Hi, my dad (68 y) underwent kidney transplant on 9/12 in Mumbai. Biopsy done on 9/17 shows severe necrosis in the tubules of the graft possibly due to ischemia as the organ was removed from a brain dead donor. 29 days after the transplant and there is no significant increase in urine output relative to pretransplant output. Considering age and diabetes, is recovery from the tubular necrosis possible and how much time does it take? Any experience of other members who have had the same issue will help us be better prepared to cope with the anxiety.
