Generic Cellecept

Hello All,

Sorry if this is duplicate post.

My insurance stopped covering brand name cellcept (Manufacturer - Genentech).

My question is have you ever had any problem after switching from brand cellcept to generic Mycophenolate Mofetil (Manufacturer - Ascend Laboratories).

  • Ditto - 5 1/2 years out.  I've never used branded Rx's.

  • All of my med (including cellceps and tacro) have been switched to genetics for years. I haven’t had any problems.

    Take care.

  • Hi - I've been taking mycophenolate in both generic and brand Cellcept since 2002.  Ive had to go back and forth due to insurance changes like yours.  They both do the same job.  Brand name just costs more.  I hope this helps.  Good luck with the insurance.

  • I am 2.5 years post KT and I am taking Mycophenolate Mofetil all the time. No issues till now.

  • I was switched over to generic Prograf and Myfortic and has been all good.

  • I dont think any issue in taking generic medicines

    • Yeah should be okay ... it is just the transition.
