Hi All,

Just passed 7 months of my kidney Tx. Now my tac level measure 11 and cretenine is 1.62. As per clinical range tac level should be in between 6-8. Is tac level is causing spike in cretenine ?? Pls answer if any one is having such issues in past.

  • I believe the high Tac level can be because of weight loss. I had weight loss of about 9 kgs in about 2 years and got my tac level high. Doc reduced the dose of Pangraf and now my Tac level has again come to normal.

About 1.62 Creat is slightly higher and can be controlled though maximum consumption of water.

Don't worry about anything. You'll be fine.

  • 1.62 is not that high, mine runs back and forth between 1.3-1.6 and have had high tac level...make sure your not taking anything that reacts with the tac., no grapfruit juice and I think there are some herbs.

  • It could very well be related, it has happened to me.  Definitely, speak to your Tx nephrologist about this. With a tacrolimus level of 11, you must constantly feel fatigued,  Be sure you are adequately hydrating, as this could cause the spike in CR as well.

    • Thank you Kidney boy.

Yes I consulted my TX team. They reduced my grafnos now. Waiting for one week to complete then will draw the blood sample to observe the change... Hope for the best.

      • Latest blood report came on 16 April 2018. Now cretenine level is 1.5. looks like it's coming down very slowly. Still there is long way to go. One thing I observe that my phosphorus level is going down below it's limit. Any suggestions to keep it within range. I raised my concern to my TX doctor but he was not worried about this.. he was telling me that it would be coming to it's normal value without any effort.

        • This IS good news! I hope your creatinine continues to drift down to "normal." As your doctor is not worried about your phosphorus level, neither should you, it does not require a supplement or any other action on your part.  I have included a link to a dietary site about phosphorus-rich foods, perhaps you could include some in your meals. Keep in mind, manicuring your numbers is no guarantee of good health.

          • Thank you!!!

Yes it's giving me motivation to do better and work harder to get it below as earea  as possible. I am hoping to bring it in normal range in next two week. Than you once again for your motivation and suggestions on regular basis. I am feeling fortunate to be in your friendlist.

            • Very cool!

Like KB said and what I always mention (sorry) food and micro nutrition can really assist with a lot of our challenges.

I also take heart meds that trash my Kidneys so I avoid Potassium like crazy.  Not all veggies are created equal.  I would be pretty happy with 1.5.  I was 1.49 last time vs.2.29 last year.
