I am back! Second transplant!!!

The last time I was on here was after my 9 year mark with my first transplant. I believe I was in a discussion asking if feeling my transplant kidney pulsate meant anything. Turns out it did. I plan on sharing all the details in a video I’ll be working on this week hopefully. Long story short to catch up anyone who’s 9 years and 5 months I was hospitalized for rejection symptoms and once admitted and tested was told my transplant was no good anymore. My PD catheter surgery was quickly scheduled and before I knew it I was back on PD treatments starting December. My brother volunteered to be my donor the second I was told I was going back on dialysis. And so here I am...about a week and a half shy of my 1 month mark post-transplant surgery. I can’t wait to join some forums and discussions and to get to know some of you all and your stories.

  • Happy for you that you were able to get the second transplant!
  • So glad you got your 2nd transplant! What does your kidney pulsating mean & what symptoms of rejection did you have?

  • Hi Jessica,

I've posted elsewhere in the group about gathering stories of the transplant experience, but I thought I'd reach out personally after reading your story. I'd love to hear more about it if you're keen to share. You can learn more about my project, fill out a survey and sign up for an interview here:

Congratulations on the success of your second transplant!

  • Abundant Felicitations to you! May you have many more reasons to celebrate and smile fill up your future. I wish you all the best. Many hugs are sent to you on the wings of hope.

    Warm regards,

  • Although I've went through only one transplant surgery ,  kidney, which has been a while ago, I can still remember what it was like in feelings and thoughts - good days, not so good days.

My suggestion to all who have recently faced this or about to, don't look back/don't think about the past  Enjoy every second of your life - think positive.  Many of of us, if not all of us, have been on that journey and continues on that path daily.

I wish you continued good health; may your dreams and desires come true.

    • Yes I agree it is best to not look back but also don’t forget how painful that experience is on those days when you get fed up of all the meds and doctors and appointments.

I wish you the same and more my fellow friend. Hope all is well :)
  • On my second too since 2013, what great thing it is.....tomorrow!

    • Yes I agree! It doesn’t get easier physically but at least you know what to expect and you already know about all the resources around you that are more than willing to help you on your journey.
  • Congratulations Jessica!  May you enjoy many, many years in good health.

    • Thank you!!! I hope you’re doing well!
