For the second time in the 5 years that I have had my lung transplant we have gone into chronic rejection and have lost 40% of lung function since December of 2017. The first time this happened they gave me thymoglobulin treatment which kills your T cells quickly and it worked and I got most (not all) of my lung function back. The down side of doing that is that I developed Merkel Cell carcinoma a very aggressive cancer and then I developed 13 squamesh cell that had to be removed by MOS surgery and they would rather not go through that again as I am still having them cut off. This time they want to use the photopheresis treatment. My question is has anyone else gone through this and if so how did it go?
Appreciate any input from anyone who has done this.
