  • Here is a thought-

If a transplant patients feels rejected by others, could you see hypothetical speaking, that a tx patient could feel the outside rejection of others and perceive it as an internal rejection of self?

    • I am a deep thinker LOL

  • This was an interesting read. I didn't understand all of it, but got the jist that the authors are claiming a correlation between patient attitudes and kidney ttansplant outcomes. It makes sense, your body and mind are all connected. And the fact that medical professionals are focusing more on the whole patient, mentally and physically, sounds like a positive shift in thinking.

However, i think this study could lead some people to imply that patients should just think more positively then, as if it is always a conscious choice one makes. Perhaps overall belief systems are, but anxiety and depression are real debilitating illnesses that you can't just think your way out of. And many of the medications prescribed for antirejection can negatively effect ones mental state. There just seems to be too many variables involved in transplantation to be able to weed out what is cause and what is effect here. Anyhow, thanks for sharing. It Is definitely some food for thought.
    • well said Renee! Too many variables. I believe when something goes wrong with the body- the body never acts alone. There are many variables at play.

In Chinese Medicine it is known for thousands of years that our organs can feel our emotions.

  • Well, I can't it's not so.  Maybe it is.  In fact, it may well be.  It is my belief that the spirit controls the mind and the mind controls the body.  I (the spirit) tell it (the body) what to do.  It goes beyond "power of positive thinking" or "power of suggestion".  I believe and have seen people who can think themselves sick.

So why not.  There probably is a connection to rejection.

    • You realize there is absolutely ZERO evidence of a spirit or soul? If there then rats, bats, squirrels, beavers, etc. would have them too because ALL mammals have the same basic anatomy. The only difference is humans the largest size brains proportion to body weight so they can create all these fables. Check out the Carl Sagan quote below.

"I'd rather believe in a harsh reality than a beautiful fantasy". - Carl Sagan

ALL evidence shows god, souls, spirits, etc. are just manmade creations!
      • You may go with Carl Sagan if you wish and all the harsh reality that brings.  But, the nature we see everyday is your evidence.  None other will be given you:

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

I'm sorry no science can be provided.  But remember, a lack of evidence is not proof.

        Be Well!

        • Dude, you're helping me prove my point. Looking at nature shows we only get ONE life. Anything in natures that dies off never comes back to life.

God only exists in the imagination of men. You mention a lack of evidence. You realize you cannot prove ANYTHING doesn't exist? Try and prove a 10 headed monster doesn't exist. You can't because you can't search the entire universe and prove it doesn't exist. Therefore you cannot prove a NEGATIVE. So the burden of proof is on the BELIEVER which is YOU. NO ONE on earth can meet that burden. I'd like you to explain how thousands of gods and goddesses have worshipped throught man's history. I know you think most all of those are fake. The EXACT same thing can be said about your god because NO ONE on earth can show any immortal being exists. Anyone who knows neuroscience knows it's a physical impossibility!
    • I'd like to see scientific proof you can just THINK yourself into a physical illness without taking poison or something. If you're talking about thinking yourself into a mental illness then YES because you can just fake some mental illnesses!
      • Not sceince, but just a couple of quotes from a very long list:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, `Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. are snared by the words of your own mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth
