What should be TDS level of drinking water for a kidney transplant patient?? I am drinking Kinley packed water. Today I measures its TDS and I am surprised to see the reading, it only measures 19.

Please suggest.

  • Now I increase TDS level from 19 to 95 by installing UV+RO System. Please suggest is it safe for me?

  • Considering the maximum allowed TDS (total dissolved solids) set by the EPA is 500mg/l., I would think you are safe with the Kinley source. Municipalities in the US are required to post their TDS and ph levels yearly, as are bottled water distributors.

I personally use a Brita water filter for all my water ingestion and I believe a ceramic filter like that should be standard for Tx recipients.

      What is your opinion??

      • I am not sure what you are trying to filter out of your water supply and why? Simple water filters like Brita and others will filter out the iron and chlorine, plus other metals. Organisms cannot pass through them either. UV light will kill most organisms, but won't always filter out the metals. Is this a directive from your Tx team? I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish.
