Vaccines - Who Shouldn't Get Them and Why

Vaccines are powerful tools for the medical community, however, those with chronic illnesses or are immune-compromised should wait and seek counsel from their physician or Tx team before receiving such medication. There is hope that the newly developing vaccine for Covid-19 infection will benefit and save the lives of many and works through an individual's immune system targeting the virus's RNA and proteins to identify the intruder. A general article about vaccines published by Healthline (pre-pandemic) makes for good reading to determine who will be who should avoid these. Not all the needed information has been released about this new vaccine and caution should temper the hope. Indirectly, most Tx recipients may benefit from lessening the amount of those, who have been exposed, and can transmit the virus.

  • Are the COVID vaccines currently in trial live vaccines? I know we should not get any live vaccine.

    • There are about 25 different vaccine projects in development, worldwide. The vaccine from Moderna is currently entering Phase 4 clinical trials and is expected to begin distribution toward the end of this year. I suspect that more and more vaccine-related announcements will be forthcoming as each new formulation moves forward in the approval process. I am watching for more news as pharmaceutical companies seek emergency approval from the FDA.
