Woman lives for 6 days without lungs

I know it sounds crazy, but in Toronto a Cystic Fibrosis patient who was suffering from sepsis due to her diseased lungs, had them removed and lived for 6 days on a heart-lung machine in an induced coma (she was also on dialysis) until she received a transplant. She didn't even believe her husband when he told her what the docs had done to save her. Her 3 year old is pretty happy though!

  • Sounds like something out of one of those high tech medical facilities that don't exist. Kudos to the bravery of her doctors. Congratulations, her story just set the bar for the rest of the medical field in trying to save lives.
  • What a beautiful story

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Got to be some kind fo record.  WOW!

    • It was a first. Apparently it's been talked about a bit, but never tried before. I saw her on the news last night and she looks fantastic. There is also talk of  a potential kidney transplant, but in the meantime she's enjoying breathing and getting into better shape.
