Where did you hear about Transplant Friends?

from information I received at the hospital

Are You Male or Female?

Share - which illness led up to you needing a transplant?

I had 2 heart attacks and 5 bypasses 15 yrs. ago. This eventually led to congestive failure. Last summer my cardiologist suggested I see his buddies at UTSW....I went only to pacify him but soon they had me talked into getting on the transplant list. Sure glad I did.

Which Organ(s) did you receive? If you are on the waiting list, please share.

How many years have you had your Transplant for?

since Dec. 11, 2010

I am Interested in Transplant Friends because...

I want to learn of other's experience and be able to offer support to those waiting on a transplant.

Which Transplant Center has or will perform your life saving surgery?

UTSouthwestern in Dallas, TX. It's the best!

Share how your transplant experience changed your life?

OMG....it is a miracle! I had extreme heart failure, trouble breathing, a horrible chronic cough, etc. Now all that is GONE GONE GONE and I can do anything!!! It is like being born again.

  • Thank you..  It has been a healing experience for me to start the camp and retreat.   My daughter Sarah who is now 15, works every year to raise money and talk about  DHC.  She is really the inspiration!     On the Facebook  Dragonfly Heart Camp you can see pictures from the retreat and I recently posted a blog from one of the teen participants on her perspective of the retreat.

  • Thank you for your warm welcome, I hope you have a great day!

  • Hi everyone just signed on today! I was transplanted on June 8, 2010. My daughters best trend donated to me I was 54 and she 29 y/o. A beyond amazing you g woman. I am in redo my blessed. I had a very sick year before transplant and an extremely rough year post transplant. I suffered from decompensation. I have never regained my energy or strength after 3 years. I feel like I could have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but not sure some of the symptoms apply to me. I get periodic bursts of energy and take advantage of every second. Then I'm down and out for awhile again. I also struggle with anxiety and depression. Anyone out there feeling the same or have suggestions? I cannot get motivated to exercise.
  • Thank you so much for your comment, it is so interesting to hear. Do you have any thoughts on those who think that you can't be resurrected without the body you came to earth in?

I am looking into this for a project that is hopefully going to encourage more people to donate organs, so anyone here that can help would be so much appreciated.

  • Hi Holly.
My book, Remarkable Recovery, is available through amazon & kindle.
  • Thank you Holly for your sweet comments.  Comply?  Well most of the time. I find as I am out further in my transplant and growing older and as the meds take their toll on me that once in awhile I get a little rebellious. I think it's called I want some control of my life. But I promise I never rebel very much.

I look forward for the chance to get to know you.
