Share whatever information you want us to know about you

I was 19 years old when I was first diagnosed with end stage renal failure then was on January 1, 1982. After one year on dialysis I was match with my mother. In February of 1983 we went into the hospital at Shands Gainesville for the surgery, but the final cross match came back showing that we were no longer a match due to some blood transfusions I receive prior to the surgery. After that I went on the waiting list for a kidney. I waited for one year when on January 5, 1984 I received my first transplant. I had it for 11 years when in February 1995 it went into rejection. I chose to stay on peritoneal dialysis. By the middle on the second year I started having problems with tears in the peritoneal lining. So I chose to give transplant another try. This time at the Jacksonville Transplant Center. My father, brother and sister were tested for a match. Only my sister was a 6 antigen match. Once she found out that she was the perfect match she did not hesitant to give me part of herself that I may have that precious gift of life. This happen on March 17, 1998 (St Patrick Day}. I am so thankful for her and I thank God for her everyday of my life. We just celebrated our 16th year.

Share your interests and hobbies

I love to read, color, crafts, go for walks outside, go to the zoo, travel to historical places. I love St. Augustine, St. Simons Island, Fernandina Beach. I love lighthouses and going to see them. My favorites are those on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, especially Cape Hatteras, which I have climbed to the top of it. I would love to travel to as many as possible.
