I was very lucky to have had a stranger as my donor. He found me from a newspaper story and came from the UK to the Netherlands to give me one of his kidneys! Having a transplant has also been one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with..not the surgery itself, but the drug side effects and the lack of real communication with the doctors. I crave a more holistic approach and this seems to be difficult, as there is such a delicate balance with the immune suppressants. These sites and forums help me find support when I don't have it elsewhere.
