Hi Sally
Finally someone that had a single lung transplant. Can I ask how was the surgery
and how long did you have to stay where you had it. I am being told 2 to 3 months.
I don't have a place near me so will have to go to where ever it is I chose. I am
trying to figure the length of time I would be gone from home.
Also has anyone heard about St. Joseph in Phoenix that has come up with anew
was to transport the lung by keeping it warm with red blood platelets and keeping
it alive.

Hi Sally;
I was in contact with you back in September. At the time I was still waiting for my double Lung transplant at Mayo in Jacksonville. I'm happy to now say that I had the transplant October 24. I can honestly say that Mayo saved my life. Four days after the surgery, my left lung collapsed, and I spent the next seven weeks in ICU, eight weeks total in the hospital. They are the most caring, and competent staff that anyone could ask for. I'm in awe of this facility, and so thankful.
I'm still here as an out-patient, and hoping to go home to Orlando by the end of this month. I feel wonderful, so far, so good. I pray that how I remain for a long time.
