  • I got it Alpha! Thank you!

  • Hi Alpha,

You can feel free to send the book to caregiverkidneystudy.pgsp@gmail.com.  Also, if you are interested, my current research study is asking for caregivers of kidney recipients to complete an online survey. If anyone acted as a "caregiver" for you during your first transplant (could be anyone including a parent, spouse, friend, sibling, etc.) you can pass along the information about the study to them.  If you think they'd be interested to contribute their experiences as well, they can email me at the email address I listed above. I can send them an easy link for the survey.  Either way, I appreciate you sharing your story and look forward to reading more about it in your book!  Have a great rest of your week!

  • Alpha...Thank you so much for your offer about the book. I would be very interested to read it! I agree writing is therapeutic. It's also very courageous of you to put your transplant story out for others to see, especially something that is so traumatic. You know, it's interesting you mention the trauma aspect. If you've seen my page here on transplantfriends then you know I'm a grad student doing some research on the effects kidney transplants have on caregivers. But, a good friend of mine just did a sort of sister-study last year that looked into the prevalence of trauma symptoms in kidney transplant recipients.  Medical procedures are very invasive and are traumatic!  Her study also looked at how this traumatic experience affects the mental health of recipients. I hope you feel like you received all of the physical and emotional assistance you needed during the process!  May I ask, how old were you when you received your transplant?

  • Hi Alpha. I'm interested in hearing more about your kidney transplant experience if you'd like to share? I'm a U.S. psychology grad student looking to learn more about the effects of kidney transplants on the recipients and their families. I want to improve the mental healthcare services recipients and their families are given through the process. Please feel free to leave me a comment or message if you'd like to share more about your transplant story. Thanks!
